FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jeffrey M. Seal, APR, 859-363-8036 or jseal@allenjoseph.net Employees Buy ViewSource Media CINCINNATI—May 23, 2001—The employees of ViewSource Media, previously owned by founder John C. Harris, have bought controlling interest in the company. Harris died March 31 of complications resulting from pneumonia. “We all feel John’s loss,” said Philip Russell, the company’s new CEO and a member of the board of directors. “He was our boss and our friend. But he’d be pleased with the orderly way we’ve carried on the business according to plans he set in motion months ago.” In January of this year, Harris formed a leadership team consisting of his staff’s senior managers. Members were charged with tasks such as long-range budget planning, bidding on new business proposals, hiring new employees and forming company policies. “John was planning for the future when he formed the leadership team,” said Kierstin Robbins, the company’s new president and chief financial officer and a board member. “He knew the day might come when he’d want to take an extended vacation, devote time to a new business venture or retire. He made it clear he couldn’t be the sole decision-maker in the organization.” The third member of the company’s board of directors is Gary Sanders, chief operating officer and art director. Harris willed the company to his family, which sold 75 percent of its shares to the employees. “Our clients will be glad to know the same people who’ve been serving their accounts are now company owners,” said Russell. “Clients won’t have to be concerned about an unfamiliar person—or another organization—changing the way they like their work handled.” Harris and ViewSource Media have gained a reputation for excellence in their field and for general business success. Harris was named a finalist in the Cincinnati Ernst & Young office’s 2000 “Entrepreneur of the Year” competition. ViewSource Media has been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur’s Business Start-Ups, Cincinnati magazine, The (Cincinnati) Business Courier and elsewhere.
